The Licensed Practical Nurse assists the providers with patient care by demonstrating courteous and efficient professional nursing skills to properly assess patient needs, determine the next course of action, communicate to the provider, and then convey provider’s instructions to the patient.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • LPN license
  • Current CPR certification

 

EDUCATION

 

LPN with a bachelor’s degree preferred. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

 

Work is performed in an office and field environment.  Involves frequent telephone contact with clients, staff, vendors, consultants, and Management.  Must be able to work efficiently under high pressure.  Position often requires flexibility in working hours. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Work requires sitting and driving for long periods. Frequent standing and walking for prolonged periods, as well as some bending and stooping.  Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.  Requires moderate typing skills and sufficient manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary. Normal or corrected vision to acceptable levels for common office work. Hearing must be in the acceptable range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for variable periods of time.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Open and close triage que at appropriate times (as dictated by management)
  • Answer and respond to incoming phone calls, checking both the refill and patient que for messages
  • Xtrac UVB technician
  • Coordinates all aspects of biologic medications including, prior authorizations and composing appeals. Working with insurance companies, providers and pharmaceutical representatives to expedite processing
  • Administering subcutaneous injections
  • Teaching patients how to self- administer subcutaneous injections
  • Gather information such as symptoms and current medical conditions
  • Determine whether a patient needs care, when that care should be given and with whom
  • Document advice and the patient’s response
  • Compose a detailed telephone encounter or action containing all pertinent information as conveyed by the patient
  • Refill medications based on provider specific protocols and document in EMR
  • Assist with prescription prior authorizations
  • Schedule appointments within SSSC and with outside providers as dictated by providers
  • Report lab and pathology results to patient
